Types of alopecia we treat
Alopecia areata (round patches), alopecia totalis (entire scalp), alopecia universalis (entire body), traction alopecia (from tight hairstyles), trichotillomania, and scarring alopecias such as lichen planopilaris and frontal fibrosing alopecia.
Diagnostic workup
Clinical examination + trichoscopy + targeted bloodwork (thyroid, ANA, vitamin D, ferritin). A scalp biopsy is taken in suspected scarring alopecia to confirm diagnosis before treatment.
Treatment options
Intralesional triamcinolone injections (gold standard for patches), topical clobetasol/anthralin/minoxidil, contact immunotherapy with DPCP, oral mini-pulse steroids, oral JAK inhibitors (baricitinib, tofacitinib) for severe disease, and PRP as adjuvant.
Why specialist care matters
Alopecias are often misdiagnosed as 'stress hair fall' and treated incorrectly. Our Gachibowli dermatologists differentiate scarring from non-scarring forms — vital because scarring alopecia is irreversible without prompt treatment.
