How the test works
Allergen-impregnated chambers are taped to the upper back on Day 0. Tapes are kept in place and dry until Day 2. Readings are taken on Day 2, Day 4 and Day 7 to identify both immediate and delayed-type allergic reactions.
Conditions diagnosed
Allergic contact dermatitis, occupational dermatitis (cement, dyes, metals), cosmetic and fragrance allergies, hair-dye allergy, dental restoration reactions, shoe and rubber allergies, and recurrent hand eczema.
What you need to do
Avoid corticosteroids and antihistamines for 1 week before testing. Keep the back dry — no swimming, gym or vigorous exercise during the 7 days. Plan around important social events.
After the diagnosis
You receive an allergen-avoidance handout listing every product, food and material containing your positive allergens — translating the test into actionable lifestyle changes.
